Erika Behrisch Elce is the author of the novel Lady Franklin of Russell Square (2018) and editor of the scholarly edition As affecting the fate of my absent husband: Selected Letters of Lady Franklin Concerning the Lost Franklin Expedition, 1848-1860(2009). She teaches Victorian Literature and Culture at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. She especially likes the histories that don't get told: the stokers and cooks onboard Royal Navy ships, backyard tinkerers, the civil servants pushing paper to keep the machine of the Empire ticking over---and of course the families whom the officers and men left behind to do their work. Lindy Mechefske is the award-winning author of Out of Old Ontario Kitchens (2018), Sir John’s Table (2015) and A Taste of Wintergreen (2011). She is the food columnist for the Kingston Whig-Standard and blogs sporadically but enthusiastically about her adventures in the kitchen at lindymechefske.com. Lindy's passions include her family and her large shaggy diva of a dog; social and culinary history; culinary anthropology; long distance walking; eating, baking, cooking, foraging and growing all manner of perennial edibles.
